Carole Lewis
Carole was a member of the original First Place group that began in 1981, and became the national director of the program in 1987.
When Carole attended the First Place orientation in March of 1981, she eagerly anticipated what God might want to do in her life. She had recently seen an old friend that looked great and who reminded her that they were soon approaching 40 years old. Carole determined she did not want to be "fat and 40." She joined First Place and soon lost 20 pounds. Learning how to bring balance to her life, she became a First Place leader to motivate others to achieve this goal.
Carole is a popular speaker and author of the books, Choosing
to Change, First Place, Today Is the First Day, Back
on Track and The Mother Daughter Legacy (May
2004 release). Carole regularly leads Conferences,
FOCUS Weeks, Workshops and seminars across the country in
the areas of personal balance, fitness, encouragement and
temperament analysis. Her audiences know her as warm, honest
and humorous.
Carole and her husband, Johnny, have three children (one deceased) and eight grandchildren. They live on Galveston Bay and enjoy sitting on their pier watching the sunset, where they are joined by their favorite pets, Meathead, Bo and Major. Carole and Johnny love to share their home with others, who also love to go there and eat Johnny's gourmet cooking.
Pat Lewis
Pat is Carole's assistant (no relation) and office manager for First Place, and joined the First Place staff in February, 1995.
Pat was a member of the original First
Place class in 1981, and assists Carole in leading First Place
groups at Houston's First Baptist Church. Carole and Pat have
been friends for many years, sharing in life's joys and struggles
of raising families, and the pains of sufferings and losses.
While Carole is a gifted and talented speaker, Pat loves the
"behind the scenes" work. Pat also was a contributing
writer to the Today Is the First Day devotional book.
Pat is a widow, having been married to Bill 44 years. They have three children and six grandchildren.
Lisa Lewis
Lisa Lewis began her career at Houston's First Baptist Church in 1989 in the Women's Ministry and joined First Place in 1996.
Lisa formerly maintained the subscriber
base and coordinated high volume mailings for the First Place
subscription newsletter. Lisa is invaluable in providing assistance
to people looking for a First Place group in their area and
answering pertinent questions about the First Place program.
She also coordinated the Today Is the First Day devotional
book project and the New First Place Favorites Cookbook
from beginning to completion. Most recently, she has assisted
Carole with her new book, Back on Track working
with those who have taken the Triple Dare Challenge. Lisa
is very talented and versatile and quietly completes her work
with diligence and excellence.
Lisa is married to John Lewis (Carole
and John's son), and they have three children: Tal, Hunter
and Harper. Tal won first place at the Woodward Academy novice
national debate tournament in Atlanta, GA last year.
