I was led to First Place by a couple in our church who purchased a First Place member kit for themselves, but, by the grace of God, decided to share it with their brothers and sisters in Christ. Another choir member who is a nurse, volunteered to lead a group for anyone interested.

Before coming to First Place, I was extremely self-conscious about my weight and my appearance. I absolutely despised seeing myself in a mirror or anything reflective. I couldn't bear to have my picture taken. My body, especially my feet, was in constant pain (bone spurs and arthritis in my feet).

I have learned that with God all things are possible. Where I have failed to lose weight before or keep it off, I now know I have the victory because I have subjected/submitted my life and my body completely to God. I have given Him his proper place - First Place.

I have lost a total of 71.5 pounds and am keeping it off! I went from a size 20 to a size 8/10 in 9 months! My body, especially my feet, is no longer in excruciating pain on a daily basis. My attitude toward myself, my life and my relationship with God is now positive. I'm not as discouraged, self-conscious or self-degrading as I used to be. I believe in my worth/value to God and His kingdom work. The most important and significant effect has been a closer, deeper walk with God. My family and I read, study and pray more than ever before. As a result, we are seeing God move in tremendous ways in our lives.

First Place is not a weight loss program, it is a lifestyle change - a change from putting self first to putting God first! When we allow God to assume His proper place - First Place - in our hearts and lives, anything is possible.
